Five people died in a fire in a multi-storey residential building in the UAE

A multi-storey residential building caught fire in the UAE. As a result of the incident, five people were killed and 19 others were injured. This was announced by the Sharjah police on April 15.

It is specified that the incident occurred on April 13. The fire alarm in one of the apartments was received by the police operations center at 11:31 (10:31 Moscow time). Police, civil defense and national ambulance officers arrived at the scene.

"Thanks to the rapid response, hundreds of people were evacuated. Nevertheless, 5 people died and 19 others were injured as a result of the fire," the police said on their Facebook page (the social network belongs to Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

The victims were hospitalized in medical institutions. The causes of the fire are currently being determined.

According to law enforcement agencies, about 1.5 thousand people lived in the building.
