Serbia expressed interest in deepening cooperation with BRICS

Serbia is interested in deepening cooperation with BRICS. This was announced on April 15 by the Minister of Family and Demography of the Republic, Milica Djurdjevic-Stamenkowski.
"We are also interested in deepening cooperation with BRICS, an organization that unites some of the world's leading powers," she told TASS.
According to her, the European Union (EU) cannot say anything to the country after its decision to establish ties with BRICS members, as Germany has adopted a strategic plan for cooperation with India, while France has concluded an investment agreement with China.
She also noted that Serbia, despite its dependence on the EU, is a sovereign and independent state, whose foreign policy depends on the needs of citizens and national interests.
Djurgiewicz-Stamenkowski recalled that the country had not imposed sanctions against Russia. Their strategic decision to maintain relations with traditional allies has never been violated, she added.
On April 13, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin thanked Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin for their respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of the state. According to him, Russia has always perceived Serbia as a partner and left the Serbs the right to choose.
