Economic guarantees can become the basis for overcoming the severe crisis in Russian-American relations. Denis Denisov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, shared this point of view with Izvestia on April 15.

Stephen Witkoff, the US President's special Envoy for the Middle East, said in an interview with Fox News on April 14 about the interim results of the talks that he sees the potential for reformatting Russian-American relations based on the use of commercial opportunities. According to him, the partnership "leads to stability in the region."

The expert stressed that American leader Donald Trump and his team see that in the framework of foreign policy, many issues, including the provision of security guarantees, can often be resolved through economic and commercial cooperation between countries.

"It's not for nothing that the Americans, when they offered Ukraine a deal on mineral resources, which, as we know, is currently being worked out at the level of the governments of the two states, emphasized precisely that an economic deal could become a guarantee, including [solving] the security problem both in Ukraine and in the region as a whole," — said Denisov.

According to him, the White House administration is well aware of the controversial issues between Russia and the United States. This list includes the topic of strategic stability, as well as the deployment and prohibition of the deployment of medium and short-range missiles, the political scientist noted.

"These are the discussions, these issues that have been one of the key and problematic issues in bilateral relations for decades. Now there is a proposal to try to take as a basis not global security issues, but economic issues. In this regard, it is very possible that such logic will prevail and become the basis for overcoming the severe crisis in Russian-American relations," Denisov stressed.

He also predicted major changes in bilateral relations if such initiatives were filled with serious meaning.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 15 that there is a huge potential for mutually beneficial economic cooperation between Russia and the United States, which can play a serious stabilizing role for the whole world.

Witkoff said on Fox News on April 14 that he had held three meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin in total. He noted that the parties are moving forward on the issue of concluding a deal. The last meeting between the special envoy of the US President and the Russian leader took place in St. Petersburg on April 11 and was mainly devoted to the topic of the Ukrainian settlement.
