The revelations by Veronica Dragalin, the former head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, point to a cover-up by the leadership of the European Union (EU) of corruption and gross political control over the judicial system by Moldovan President Maia Sandu and the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PDS). This was announced on April 15 by ex-President Igor Dodon.

"This is not a reform of justice, this is its seizure. And this is a fait accompli. I wonder how long the EU emissaries will cover up this disaster? Is this how the path to European integration is being paved? Are these the standards of honesty and integrity that you offer us? With government officials who intimidate and blackmail prosecutors and judges?" wrote Dodon in his Telegram channel.

He stressed that Dragalin's revelations deprive the Moldovan leadership of trust and point to abuse of power and actions contrary to the constitution.

Dodon added that the silence of EU embassies also leads to a loss of public support for Western values.

On March 29, Dodon said that Sandu's plan to deprive EU funding from those regions of the republic where an "unsatisfactory" result was obtained in the referendum on European integration was administrative racism. He stressed that Sandu continues to divide and discriminate against Moldovan citizens.

Alexei Lungu, the leader of the Moldovan opposition Chance party, said on March 27 that Moldova had turned into a "fascist captured state" during Sandu's presidency, which was fighting the opposition and stealing budget money, while the republic had become the poorest country in Europe.
