Kia clarified data on car sales in Russia

Hyundai Motor Concern, which includes Kia, called inaccurate reports about plans to sell 50,000 cars of this brand in Russia. The automaker claims that the sales figures given in the plan were not for the Russian Federation, but for the CIS as a whole.
"The Korean media incorrectly labeled the projected sales in the CIS region as Russia," TASS quoted representatives of the Korean concern's press service as saying.
The day before, it was reported that Kia had updated its car sales plan for 2025 and included the Russian market in it. According to the Korean Yonhap news agency, such data was announced on April 9 at a private event for investors.
The medium-term plans announced last year did not mention the share of the Russian Federation. The company's business strategy has been adjusted to take into account the international situation, in which the prospects for ending the conflict in Ukraine have been growing since the inauguration of Donald Trump in the United States, the note noted.
On April 9, the ex-Hyundai plant in Russia revealed the results of its work at the beginning of the year. In the first quarter of 2025, 8.7 thousand Solaris brand cars were produced at the AGR Automobile Plant in St. Petersburg. These are renamed Hyundai and Kia, which are produced in full cycle mode. The model range includes HC crossovers (Hyundai Creta), KRS sedan (Kia Rio), KRX cross hatchback (Kia Rio X) and HS sedan (Hyundai Solaris).
