Bulgaria has decided not to sell Russian-made reactors to Ukraine

Bulgaria has decided not to sell Russian reactors manufactured for the Belene nuclear power plant to Ukraine. This was announced on April 15 by Atanas Zafirov, Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, following a discussion of the issue in the Joint Management Council established by the political associations that formed the ruling majority in the country.
"Negotiations were held on the fate of two reactors for the Belene NPP, and an agreement was reached that they would not be sold," Zafirov said, quoted by TASS.
According to him, these devices represent a key asset of the country, part of energy security, as well as economic independence. The decision is planned to be discussed with members of Parliament.
Earlier, on February 11, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, announced that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had supported the purchase of a reactor from Bulgaria from the Russian Federation for operation at the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). According to him, 261 rada deputies voted for the purchase, including 190 representatives of the Servant of the People party of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
