The Moldovan authorities are harassing the residents of Gagauzia for their pro-Russian attitude. Ilan Shor, the leader of the Pobeda opposition bloc, wrote about this on his Telegram channel on April 15.

"There is no doubt that Gagauz people are being oppressed for their pro—Russian attitude, for the fact that they voted overwhelmingly against European integration," he said.

In addition, Shor pointed out that Chisinau seeks to destroy autonomy, therefore, "it does not shy away from anything." According to him, the budget of the Gagauz people is being cut, and the head, Yevgenia Hutsul, is being arrested for no reason.

On April 15, it became known that Gagauzia would require an external audit in order to restore the rule of law and protect the rights of the region. The comments and legal arguments are planned to be sent to the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, the UN Security Council and other international organizations.

In addition, on April 14, Gutsul reported that the decision of the Constitutional Court of Moldova to restrict the rights of Gagauzia could deprive the autonomy of a special status, so the opposition should join forces. According to Gutsul, the main goal of the Moldovan government is the liquidation of Gagauzia.
