French Prime Minister announces allocation of €3 billion for defense

France will increase defense spending by €3 billion. This was announced on April 15 by French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou.
"Undoubtedly, about 3 billion more will be needed in the defense budget for 2026 to guarantee the independence of France and the European Union (EU) in matters of security and defense," BFM TV quoted him as saying.
In addition, he noted that the primary task of the EU is to ensure its security through the joint efforts of European countries.
On March 6, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Europe, despite the development of the situation in Ukraine, needs to create its own autonomous defense capabilities.
