The new garbage trucks that will be produced in Russia must be environmentally friendly, maneuverable and affordable. This was announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev at a meeting in the framework of Incident No. 58 "Organization of a solid municipal waste management system" on April 15.

During the meeting, Patrushev stressed that the task now is not only to develop suitable domestic trucks, but also to launch their mass production. He added that the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and the Russian Environmental Operator will also be involved in the design process, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been instructed to accelerate the implementation of the project.

Patrushev also said that the Russian government has approved a list of organizations with which individual regions can conclude concession agreements without competition for the construction of waste management infrastructure.

It is expected that through the implementation of this mechanism, 5 million tons of municipal solid waste treatment capacity will be created, 2.3 million tons for their disposal and 3.5 million for burial.

Earlier, on February 6, Patrushev said that the pace of construction of municipal solid waste (MSW) treatment facilities should increase. He added that the implementation of the federal project "Closed-loop Economy" has been launched since 2025.
