Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei gave a positive assessment after holding the first round of talks with the United States in Oman. The official portal of the Supreme Leader informed about this on April 15.

"In the early stages, the country's decision to enter into negotiations worked well, but even after that, it is necessary to act carefully, while the red lines for us and for the opposite side are outlined very clearly," Khamenei said.

According to him, negotiations can lead to both positive and negative consequences. That is why, in his opinion, it is necessary to focus on the internal capabilities of the country.

Khamenei also mentioned a way to deal with sanctions. He believes that investing in production will help in this matter.

"It is not in our hands to lift the sanctions, but it is in our power to neutralize them, and there are many ways and appropriate internal capabilities for this, and if this goal is achieved, the country will become invulnerable to sanctions," he stressed.

The first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on lifting sanctions and nuclear issues ended in Oman on April 12. During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, exchanged the positions of their governments on these issues in the presence of the Omani Foreign Minister.

At the end of the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the continuation of negotiations in a week. Araqchi said that during the second round, Iran will discuss with the United States the framework of possible agreements. In turn, US President Donald Trump noted that the negotiations on Iran are going well.
