- Manturov announced Russia's readiness to offer Indonesia a high-capacity nuclear power plant.

Russia is ready to offer Indonesia high-capacity nuclear power plants and small modular reactors, which would allow the two countries to develop joint projects. This was announced on April 15 by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov during a conversation with journalists.
"There is mutual interest in cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, taking into account Indonesia's plans to expand this industry. For the development of joint projects in the nuclear energy sector, Russia is ready to offer Indonesia both high—power plants and small modular reactors," TASS quoted him as saying.
According to him, the flagship product of the Russian Federation in this industry is power units with VVER—1200 generation III+ reactors. This technology is currently the most advanced, meets the required level of safety and can withstand extreme external conditions such as floods, tsunamis and earthquakes, the minister said. If implemented, the project will contribute to Indonesia's climate and environmental agenda, as well as contribute to the development of the country's economy.
"The implementation of the NPP construction project in Indonesia will give a tremendous impetus to the development of its economy, education and technology: every dollar invested in the NPP construction project additionally contributes almost two dollars to Indonesia's GDP," Manturov said.
In addition, Russia sees prospects for cooperation with Indonesia on projects for the construction of generation facilities using renewable energy sources, including solar generation of any capacity. The Russian Federation is ready to offer its technical capabilities for industrial and civil engineering in this area, he added.
Earlier in the day, Maxim Borovoy, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, announced that the Russian Ministry of Agriculture expects to start supplying beef to Indonesia. He expressed the hope that this market will open up and the Russian Federation will be able to start working on it.
A day earlier, Manturov also noted that an agreement on a free trade area (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Indonesia is expected to be signed by the end of 2025. He also noted the broad interest in the development of Russian-Indonesian cooperation, including in such basic areas as energy, supply and processing of petroleum products, liquefied natural gas, coal and aluminum.
