The average price of a used car has decreased in Russia

The average price of a used car in the first three months of 2025 in Russia decreased by 2.5% to 1.3 million rubles. At the same time, sales of used cars decreased by 12% during this period. This was reported on April 15 by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, citing calculations by analysts at the Drom portal.

The volume of new car transactions in the first quarter decreased by 18%, and the average cost increased by 2% to 3.3 million rubles.

According to experts, the drop in the overall average cost with its growth in the segment of new cars may indicate that Russians, on average, began to choose budget cars or older models on the secondary market. Due to the high key interest rate, car loans have become less affordable, so when choosing a car, citizens have begun to consider cars with a lower price, or refuse to buy at all.

According to analysts, Lada Granta is in the top five most popular models among Russians, although its sales decreased by 8% with an average price drop of 2% to 824 thousand rubles. Lada Priora is in second place, followed by Lada Vesta, Hyundai Solaris, and Lada 2114.

On April 10, it was reported that in the Russian secondary market in March, the average cost of a domestic car with a mileage of no more than 15 years remained at the January level and amounted to 718 thousand rubles, which is 6% less than a year earlier. Models of Chinese brands in March were offered at an average price of 2.19 million rubles, which is 2% lower than last year's values.
