More than 20 heads of state and government are expected to attend the Victory Day Parade in Moscow. They have previously announced their intention to attend events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in the Russian capital. This was announced on April 15 by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

He noted that Moscow would be glad to see everyone who is ready to celebrate the grand date with Russia. This is especially important at a time when there is once again no unified desire in Europe to immediately eradicate the resurgent Nazism.

"It is especially important right now, when Nazism has settled in Europe again. <...> This day is important, we will be glad to see everyone. Now we can say that we expect more than 20 heads of state and government who will celebrate this holiday together with President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin," Peskov said at a briefing.

The Kremlin representative also added that Russia considers the call by the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Kai Kallas, not to visit Moscow to participate in the Victory Day parade on May 9 as incorrect. He also stressed that such threats should be assessed by those States to which they are addressed.

On March 24, Acting Israeli Ambassador Alexander Ben Zvi said that Israel will always celebrate Victory Day and will definitely be represented at the parade in Moscow on May 9.

A day earlier, the Russian Embassy in Venezuela told Izvestia that Russia would be happy to host the president of the South American country, Nicolas Maduro, at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in Moscow. The diplomatic mission noted that the head of the Bolivarian Republic has repeatedly expressed a desire to pay tribute to the feat of the Soviet people in the fight against fascism.
