The director of the film "Vertical Racing" Alexander Muratov died at the age of 89

A week before his 90th birthday, Soviet and Ukrainian director Alexander Muratov passed away. This was announced on April 14 by the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine.

"Today, April 14, in the morning, the heavens opened for Alexander Muratov," says the Facebook page of the association (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

Muratov was born in 1935 in Kharkov. He graduated from the directing department of VGIK in 1959. The director took part in the filming of such films as "Our Honest Bread", "Avdotya Pavlovna", "Vertical Racing", "Spring Rain", "Old Fortress", "Lyubasha", "Golden Chain" and others.
