- The Russian Foreign Ministry called the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Kursk region cynical amid statements about peace

The Ukrainian drone strike on the Kursk region looks cynical against the background of Kiev's statements about its alleged desire for peace. This was announced on April 15 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"The ongoing crimes of the misanthropic regime of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky looks especially cynical against the background of speeches <...> about the alleged desire for peace," she is quoted as saying on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The diplomat stressed that such statements should not mislead about the true goals of the Ukrainian authorities. In her opinion, Kiev is not interested in a peaceful resolution of the conflict and seeks to inflict a "strategic defeat" on Russia.
Zakharova called on the international community to condemn the actions of the Ukrainian leadership and show determination to stop the "bloody acts of the Zelensky gang."
A massive attack by Ukrainian drones in the Kursk region became known in the early morning of April 15. As a result of the strikes, several houses caught fire. An 85-year-old woman was also killed, and nine civilians were injured. The fire damaged two multi-storey buildings and three private households. One of the shells hit the ambulance garage, as a result, 11 official vehicles were damaged.
A criminal case on a terrorist act was opened on the fact of a massive attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on residential buildings in Kursk (paragraph "b" of Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
