Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 15 that the call by the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Kai Kallas, not to visit Moscow to participate in the Victory Day parade on May 9 was "wrong" and there were countries in Europe that did not accept such rhetoric.

"We are paying attention to her very, very harsh statements. We do not consider them to be correct," Peskov said at a briefing.

The president's press secretary noted that Moscow would be glad to see guests who were ready to share with the Russians "the pride and joy of this day."

He also stressed that such threats should be assessed by those States to which they are addressed.

On April 14, Callas announced that the unification countries would not participate in the May 9 parade in Moscow. She also warned that European officials who travel to Russia to participate in the celebrations will face "consequences." The participation of EU candidate countries in the Victory Day Parade is also undesirable, she stressed.

The next day, State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Volodin said that the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs should be removed from office and brought to the UN International Tribunal for such statements.
