A literary and musical event "Victory Readings. Tashkent"

On April 15, Tashkent hosted an international literary and musical event from the cycle "Victory Readings" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This was reported to Izvestia by the press service of the project.
Readings at the Tashkent History Museum were devoted to the role of the people of Uzbekistan in the Great Patriotic War. In those years, every third resident of the republic took part in the struggle against Nazism — about 2 million people went to the front. Reliable logistics ensured the smooth operation of evacuated enterprises, scientific institutions and creative associations. Thousands of evacuated Soviet citizens, including children who had lost their parents, escaped starvation and death in Tashkent during the war.
The participants of the readings included Dmitry Kharatyan, People's Artist of Russia, a native of the Uzbek city of Almalyk, Mansur Tashmatov and Abzal Rafikov, People's Artists of Uzbekistan, Anastasia Penkova, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, and other cultural figures. The audience heard the works of Sharaf Rashidov, Gafur Gulyam, Rasul Gamzatov, Bulat Okudzhava, Robert Rozhdestvensky and other Soviet-era authors.
Victory Readings is a large—scale project about the exploits of soldiers and ordinary citizens during the Great Patriotic War, which involves famous theater and film actors, musicians and public figures. Events within the framework of the initiative have already been held in Moscow, Volgograd and Kaliningrad.
On April 14, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova told Izvestia that 190 major events were being prepared in Russia to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War, and the total number of cultural events dedicated to this topic would exceed 100,000. All 89 regions of the country are preparing to celebrate the Victory anniversary, and the efforts are coordinated by a huge organizing committee involving dozens of federal agencies.
