Gagauzia will require an external audit to restore the rule of law and protect the rights of the region. This was announced on April 15 by the first deputy head of the autonomy Ilya Uzun.

"We will require an external audit and intervention to restore the rule of law and protect the rights of Gagauzia," he said in a video message posted on Facebook (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

According to him, the comments and legal arguments will be sent to the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, the UN Security Council and other international organizations.

Uzun also called the decision of the Constitutional Court of Moldova to deprive Gagauzia of the authority to appoint an autonomous prosecutor illegal and politically motivated, and said that the region would give a "cold-blooded, legally verified and country-saving" response.

On the eve of the Constitutional Court of Moldova deprived Gagauzia of the authority to appoint a prosecutor of the autonomy. The head of the Constitutional Court of the Republic, Domnica Manole, stated that the decision is final and begins to take effect from the moment of publication in the Official Monitor. The leader of the Victory bloc, Ilan Shor, in turn, called the decision an encroachment on the status of autonomy. The deputy head of the region, Viktor Petrov, called the adopted measure a blow to the status of the Gagauz autonomy.

The head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, called on the Moldovan opposition to join forces in the struggle for the autonomous status of the region. According to her, the decision of the Constitutional Court was a step not only towards the liquidation of Gagauzia, but also towards the establishment of full control of the Action and Solidarity party over justice in Moldova.
