In Chelyabinsk, a man saved a child after an unknown adult attacked him with a knife, causing him multiple wounds. Local resident Andrey Napalkov, who helped the boy, told Izvestia on April 15 that he was returning home from work in the evening when he heard a child's voice from the bushes asking for help.

"I was walking home from work yesterday, <...> and from the bushes I heard a voice for help: "Help me get up." I looked, there was a small child lying there and, apparently, he didn't look well. I picked it up, looked at it — well, it's just bad," said Napalkov.

Then, shielding the boy with himself, he led him around the corner, carefully making sure that no one returned to the crime scene. An ambulance was immediately called to the crying child, and while they were waiting for the doctors, they met and talked a little. The boy said that he was walking from a training session when he was attacked by an unknown man with a knife and hit several times on his jacket and trousers.

"His outer clothes were cut, soaked in blood, and the fluff was sticking out of his down jacket. And his pants were soaked. Well, it was obvious that he wasn't feeling very well. I offered him a drink of water, but he said he didn't want to. <...> He was afraid, asking all the time where his mom was, that he would be scolded," the man added.

In his opinion, the man who attacked the boy was most likely drunk. According to the savior, he himself was also a little scared, as this was the first time he found himself in such a situation.

"I didn't cry or scream a little bit myself, but it was still a little scary. Because you don't see this every day. It would be fine if an adult was injured, calm down. And here is a child," said the Chelyabinsk resident.

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia reported that a man who helped an 11-year-old boy in the Metallurgical district, according to the instructions of the head of the department, Alexander Bastrykin, will be presented with an award.

"The Chairman of the TFR instructed to present the man who saved the child to the departmental award," the agency's website says.

It was established that the attacker turned out to be a previously convicted local resident, he was detained. The issue of bringing charges and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved. A criminal case has been opened under Part 3 of Article 30, paragraphs "b", "i" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder of a minor for hooligan motives").

"The suspect, who was intoxicated, stabbed an 11-year-old boy multiple times out of hooligan motives. The defendant was unable to complete the criminal intent due to circumstances beyond his control, as his actions were thwarted by an eyewitness to the incident," the Investigative Committee said.

On April 6, it was reported that in New York, a man attacked his underage relatives using a meat cleaver. One of the victims, an injured 11—year-old girl, locked herself in a room and called the rescue service, saying that her uncle had stabbed her and her siblings. The 49-year-old attacker was captured and taken to a medical facility, his condition was assessed as critical.

As a result of the man's actions, four girls aged 8, 11, 13 and 16 received stab wounds.
