A court in Nizhny Novgorod upheld the verdict of singer Eduard Charlotte (listed as an extremist and terrorist in the Russian Federation) for rehabilitating Nazism and insulting the feelings of believers. This was announced on April 15 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

Charlotte was sentenced to five and a half years in a penal colony on charges of rehabilitating Nazism in December 2024. The state prosecution requested that Charlotte be detained for seven years and five months in a general regime colony.

During the hearing, the singer apologized to the residents of Russia.

On November 22, 2023, Charlotte was detained at Pulkovo Airport, where he arrived from Yerevan. The artist was transferred to Samara. On November 30, three criminal cases were initiated against him — on two counts of rehabilitating Nazism (Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and one of insulting the feelings of believers (Article 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The reason for Charlotte's arrest was the offensive videos he posted on Instagram (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).

On July 23, 2024, singer Charlotte was added to the list of terrorists and extremists.
