Vance called Zelensky's statements against the United States absurd.

On April 15, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance called the words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about Washington's support for Moscow absurd.
"I think it's kind of absurd on Zelensky's part to tell the [US] government, which is currently ensuring the unity of its government and military efforts, that we are somehow on Russia's side," he said in an interview with UnHerd.
Vance clarified that this rhetoric is "definitely unproductive."
US President Donald Trump's special Envoy for the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, announced on April 14 that progress was being made towards concluding a deal with Russia to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, negotiations on Ukraine are currently at the stage of "something important."
Witkoff's third meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin took place in St. Petersburg on April 11. It was clarified that the topic of the negotiations was aspects of the Ukrainian settlement. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, called the meeting between Putin and Witkoff a good opportunity to convey the Russian side's point of view to Trump before the talks began.
