- The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned Russians about calls from scammers on behalf of the Federal Tax Service

Fraudsters have developed a new scheme to steal money and personal data from Russians, which they extort by posing as employees of the Federal Tax Service (FTS). On April 15, the Department for organizing the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned about this.
"There is a development of fraudulent schemes related to the declaration company. Currently, information is being received that intruders are calling citizens, posing as employees of the Federal Tax Service of Russia," the agency's Telegram channel says.
Fraudsters convince a person that there is no information about income for the past year on the 3-personal income tax form. The victim is then asked to make an appointment with the Federal Tax Service and provide passport information or a taxpayer identification number (INN).
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded that when talking on the phone, you should not tell anyone any information about yourself, and you can make an appointment with the tax inspectorate yourself through the FTS service.
On the same day, Russians were warned that fraudsters began sending e-mail messages on behalf of the Gosuslugi service about an allegedly suspicious account login. The letter contains a "recommendation" according to which the user needs to check the security settings and "urgently contact" the support service using a fake phone number. At the same time, in their messages, the scammers misspell the name of the service as "Gos uslugi".
