The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation has approved standards for homework completion time for elementary school students. This was reported on April 15 by RIA Novosti with reference to the relevant department document.

"Starting from September 1, 2025, unified subject planning will be introduced, rationing of control and verification work has been established, including All—Russian verification work (no more than 10% of the total number of lessons in the program), and homework," Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov told the agency.

It is indicated that, from the Ministry's point of view, schoolchildren should spend one hour on homework in the first grade, one and a half hours in the second and third grades, and two hours in the fourth grade. At the same time, schools are required to monitor the amount of homework in each subject.

A day earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko announced that from September 1, schools' educational programs will be synchronized with the General State Exam (OGE) and the Unified State Exam (USE). He also called it an important step to limit the number of tests that students write during the year.
