The Air Forces of South Korea and the United States conducted joint exercises with the deployment of American B-1B strategic bombers. This was announced on April 15 by the KBS television and radio company.

The F-35A and F-16 fighters of the South Korean Air Force, and American F-16 fighters also took part in them. It clarifies that the exercises are designed to regularly demonstrate the expanded capabilities of the United States in deterrence at home and abroad.

"The Ministry of National Defense (South Korea. — Ed.) explained that the exercises were conducted to demonstrate the combined capabilities of the expanded deterrence of South Korea and the United States, to cope with the constant threat posed by the advanced nuclear and missile forces of North Korea, and to strengthen the interoperability of the joint forces of South Korea and the United States," the material says.

According to KBS, Seoul and Washington will continue to expand joint threat deterrence and response exercises based on close cooperation to strengthen cooperation within the framework of the South Korean-American alliance.

On January 15, the Yonhap news agency reported that the United States, South Korea and Japan were conducting joint air exercises near the Korean Peninsula in response to Pyongyang's launch of short-range ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan. It was clarified that at least one American B-1B Lancer strategic bomber, South Korean F-15K fighters and Japanese Mitsubishi F-2 fighters took part in the exercises.
