Pope canonizes "God's architect" Antoni Gaudi

Pope Francis has beatified the "Architect of God", Catalan Antonio Gaudi. This was announced on Monday, April 14, by the press service of the Papal See.
"The altars honor the Catalan artist, who devoted most of his life to the design of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona and considered his work a mission to make God known," the see said in a statement.
As specified by "Gazeta.Ru", Gaudi was awarded the title of the venerable servant of God. The architect supervised the construction of the Sagrada Familia for more than 40 years.
Other famous projects of Gaudi are the Guell Palace, Guell Park, Guell wine cellars, chapels and crypts of the Guell Colony, pavilions of the Pedralbes estate.
Gaudi was born in 1852 and died in 1926 after being run over by a tram.
Earlier, on April 6, Pope Francis spoke in public for the first time after treatment. After Sunday's mass dedicated to the suffering and the sick, 88-year-old Francis rode a wheelchair to St. Peter's Square in the Vatican and addressed the crowd.
