Moscow knows how not to let itself be trapped in negotiations with Washington. This was announced on Monday, April 14, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"We are well aware of what a mutually beneficial deal looks like, which we have never rejected, and what a deal looks like that could lead us into another trap," he said in an interview with the Kommersant newspaper.

He noted that currently, when the administration of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, offers "normal deals," it is positively perceived by the Russian side.

However, according to the diplomat, Russia has taken into account past experience and now will not allow any dependence on the United States.

Lavrov noted that Trump's policy is aimed at upholding the national interests of the United States, but he is ready to make contact with other countries when these interests coincide.

Earlier in the day, the American leader said he expected "good proposals" to resolve the conflict in Ukraine in the near future. The US president added that in the years leading up to the conflict, Washington could have done much to prevent a clash.
