In Iraq, more than 1.8 thousand people were injured due to breathing difficulties amid the sandstorm that hit the country. This was reported on April 14 by the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.

"On Monday, the Iraqi health authorities reported that more than 1.8 thousand cases of suffocation were recorded due to the sandstorm that hit the central and southern parts of the country," the newspaper informs.

The disaster also disrupted operations at two international airports, Najaf and Basra.

"Experts say that dust storms may intensify in Iraq, which the United Nations considers one of the five countries most affected by some aspects of climate change," the article says.

On April 14, an orange danger level was introduced in northern China due to the storm. In addition, sand and snow storms are expected in the areas of the Bohai, Yellow and East China Seas.
