The United States has no plans to sever trade relations with China, but it allows for such a development. This was announced on Monday, April 14, by American Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

"This does not have to be the case, but it can happen <...> The duties on China are high, this is not a joke. I think no one thinks it's sustainable, and they want to stay," the head of the U.S. Treasury Department said in an interview with Bloomberg TV.
