Construction of a new tram line has started in Moscow. This was announced on Monday, April 14, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.

The line will run from Komsomolskaya Square to the Chistye Prudy metro station. According to Biryukov, it will connect the eastern districts of the city with the southern and central ones. It will be double-track, its length will be almost 21 km. The adjacent territory will be landscaped along it, the Moscow City News agency reports. In particular, it is planned to plant about 200 trees along the line and lay out 13.7 thousand square meters of lawn, RT clarifies.

The area of future work, according to the official, includes sections of Masha Poryvaeva, Kalanchevskaya, Krasnoprudnaya, Komsomolskaya Square, Akademika Sakharova Avenue, Chistoprudny and Sretensky boulevards. Specialists of the municipal management complex have already installed a construction site, put up fences with warning lights. Convenient passageways have been set up for pedestrians, RIAMO writes.

Biryukov added that the sidewalks will be widened to 3-6 m and their pavement will be replaced. It is also planned to update the asphalt on the roadway, apply markings, install road signs, and equip new ground crossings with contrasting lighting, Moscow 24 notes.
