Russia is not "begging" anyone for the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions. This was announced on April 14 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"As you know, if you follow the discussion in our society, we don't run after anyone, we don't ask for the sanctions to be lifted," he said in an interview with the Kommersant newspaper.

The minister noted that the Russian Federation should not become dependent on other countries in critical areas, even if trade restrictions are lifted. Lavrov recalled that President Vladimir Putin also supports the preservation of a sovereign economy in Russia.

"There is no longer any globalization of the global economy. It was destroyed, not by [current American leader Donald] Trump, but by [former US President Joe] Biden, when he imposed sanctions and made sanctions the only instrument of his foreign policy," the Russian Foreign Minister stressed.

Earlier, on April 12, American economist Jeffrey Sachs admitted that the negotiation process between the Russian Federation and the United States was moving towards the abolition of American restrictions. He also noted that he does not see a threat from Trump's "tariff war", as he believes that this will not have a direct and strong impact on Russia.

The Reuters news agency reported on March 3 that the White House is studying plans for a possible lifting of sanctions against Russia. According to sources, the agencies are currently preparing a proposal to lift restrictions on certain legal entities and individuals so that US representatives can discuss it with their Russian counterparts in the coming days as part of negotiations to improve diplomatic and economic relations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled on March 4 that so far no one in the US administration has made official statements that Washington is going to lift sanctions against Moscow.
