In April, more than 50 exhibitions dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will open in the capital's museums, said Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina.

"All exhibitions will be dedicated to the courage and steadfastness of the defenders of the country — the military, home front workers, engineers, doctors, scientists. Muscovites and tourists will see paintings, sculptures, wartime letters and postcards, archival photographs and other materials," Sergunina said.

The exhibition in the Bogorodskoye Gallery, which is already open to visitors, introduces them to different aspects of people's lives in the 40s.

Guests of the State Darwin Museum will be able to learn the stories of front-line scientists, for example, biologists who served in sanitary and epidemiological battalions and were responsible for anti-epidemic protection of soldiers, the quality of water and food.

On April 17, an exhibition of paintings dedicated to battles and everyday life of soldiers will open at the Moscow Defense Museum. Portraits of veterans will occupy a special place in the exhibition. A project dedicated to hero cities will start here on April 18. In addition to paintings, books, coins and souvenirs related to key events will be presented.

On April 25, Muscovites and guests of the capital will be able to visit the exhibition in Zaryadye Park. Among the exhibits are the 1943 birch bark newspaper Narodny Avenger, the melted bricks of the Brest Fortress, and the weapons of Hero of the Soviet Union Mikhail Egorov, who hoisted the Victory Banner on the roof of the Reichstag. Documentaries about the life of war veterans will be shown in the multimedia area.

In late April and early May, a major historical project will be launched on the boulevards and streets of the capital. For example, starting on April 30, rare photographs of musicians from the war years will be available in the Moscow Metro square. Their melodies were heard at the front and all over the country. In addition, certificates, award lists, scores and QR codes for listening to compositions will be placed on the stands.
