The European Union (EU) boycott of energy supplies from Russia has long lost its meaning. This was announced on April 14 by Alexey Pushkov, head of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy.

"From the point of view of economic logic, the European boycott of energy resources from Russia has long been exhausted," he said in a Telegram channel.

He noted that the boycott has already led to a lack of economic growth in Germany, the closure of a number of enterprises and serious financial losses for the whole of Europe. Pushkov also stressed that the restrictive measures taken by the European Union had no rational grounds.

"This boycott is based only on the ideological fanaticism of Europe's leaders and their reckless policies, which, as [the former German Chancellor] stated at the time. Angela Merkel, the economy is more important," Pushkov said.

On April 5, Prime Minister of the German federal state of Thuringia, CDU party member Mario Vogt, allowed the possibility of resuming Russian gas supplies to Germany. However, according to him, it will be possible to do this only after the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
