- Hutsul called on the opposition to jointly defend the rights of autonomy in front of Chisinau

The decision of the Constitutional Court of Moldova to restrict the rights of Gagauzia may deprive the autonomy of a special status, the opposition should join forces. This was announced on April 14 by the head of the Gagauz Autonomy Evgenia Gutsul in the Telegram channel.
"The decision of the Constitutional Court to exclude the National Assembly from the process of appointing the prosecutor of Gagauzia is another step towards the liquidation of the Gagauz autonomy and the establishment of total control of the PAS over the justice system," Hutsul wrote.
According to her, the main goal of the Moldovan authorities is to eliminate Gagauzia, as well as reduce its special legal status to a "large area with cultural differences."
In addition, the head of Gagauzia called on the opposition to join forces to defend the rights of autonomy in front of Chisinau.
"Only together will we be able to defend what belongs to our people by right," she concluded.
On April 14, the Constitutional Court of Moldova stripped Gagauzia of its authority to appoint an autonomous prosecutor, said Domnica Manole, head of the Constitutional Court of the Republic. She stressed that the decision is final and begins to take effect from the moment it is published in the Official Monitor.
The leader of the Victory bloc, Ilan Shor, in turn, noted that this decision is an encroachment on the status of autonomy. The deputy head of the region, Viktor Petrov, called the decision of the Constitutional Court of Moldova a blow to the status of the Gagauz autonomy.
