The Telegraph pointed out the main drawbacks of the German Leopard 2 tanks

German Leopard 2 tanks, which are used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), have proved ineffective in combat operations during the Ukrainian conflict. This was reported on April 14 by The Telegraph newspaper.
"Leopard 2 is not designed for the Ukrainian battlefield — they are effective only with good air support, which Ukraine does not have," the publication clarifies.
The Telegraph notes that Leopard 2 tanks are vulnerable to drone attacks, and their complex design and equipment make it impossible to repair in the field. It is specified that damaged cars have to be sent to Poland for restoration.
The publication emphasizes that due to the small number of these tanks in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the failure of even several units becomes a serious blow to the combat capability of the units armed with them.
Earlier in December, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, a former special forces officer, told Izvestia that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were forced to install Soviet Kontakt-1 dynamic protection systems on Western Leopard and Abrams tanks due to the vulnerability of the vehicles. In Russia, such protection is placed on almost all tanks, he stressed.
