Unidentified gunmen attacked two ancient villages in the Nigerian state of Plateau, killing about 50 people. The Daily Post writes about this on April 14, citing local authorities.

"While residents of Plateau State are trying to come to terms with recent attacks in some communities of the Bokkos Local Government, two villages in the Bassa Local Government were attacked on Sunday evening, killing 47 people and injuring dozens," the statement said.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the former military administrator of the state, Rear Admiral Bitrus Atukum, claim that the purpose of the attacks was to devastate the affected communities and seize their ancestral lands.

A day earlier, it was reported that in northeastern Nigeria, a driver and at least seven passengers were killed after a bus ran over an improvised explosive device. It is assumed that the explosive device was planted by militants of the terrorist group Boko Haram.
