Law enforcement officers detained a father and son involved in the arson of relay cabinets in St. Petersburg. This was reported on April 14 in the Telegram channel of the transport police of the North-Western Federal District (NWFD).

"As a result of a complex of operational search measures, two residents of the Northern Capital involved in the arson of relay cabinets were detained. They turned out to be a 46-year-old man and his 23—year-old son," the report said.

According to the press service of the department, the attackers committed the act on the instructions of an unknown curator in the messenger. For a reward of 50,000 rubles, the accomplices opened and set fire to two relay cabinets located on the railway section of the Ligovo – Strelna stations between the stop platforms of Ligovo – Sosnovaya Polyana in the Krasnoselsky district of St. Petersburg.

In addition, law enforcement officers found out that a 23-year-old man had previously been prosecuted for robbery and illegal possession of a car without the purpose of theft.

It is specified that a criminal case has been opened against the defendants on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). The case will be reclassified under paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("A terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior agreement"), the press service reports.

Earlier, on April 13, in the shopping center in Nakhabino, Moscow region, a teenager who committed arson was deceived by fraudsters and demanded to transfer 500 thousand rubles to them. When the teenager could not find such a sum, the attackers offered him to buy a canister of gasoline and commit arson.
