The euro is becoming an alternative to the US dollar amid economic changes related to US duties. This was reported by Bloomberg on April 14.

"The euro is becoming the main beneficiary of the dollar's weakness as investors overestimate its role in the global financial system after President Donald Trump slammed his tariffs on the markets and took the trade war with China to a new level," the article says.

It is noted that against the background of the duties of the American leader, the growth of the euro exchange rate has shown record growth over the past 15 years. At the same time, according to a Bloomberg FX survey, none of the 51 trader respondents predict a further rise in the euro above $1.15 in 2025.

Georgy Ostapkovich, Director of the HSE Center for Economic Studies, told Izvestia on April 10 that amid changes in the global trading architecture, there is a gradual decline in the role of the US currency in international settlements. According to him, the weakening of the dollar will be an inevitable consequence if the Trump administration implements its tariff policy in a straightforward manner.
