Moldova announced the deliberate exclusion of Gagauzia from key governance processes

The Moldovan authorities are deliberately pushing Gagauz autonomy out of all key governance processes in order to "nullify" all the powers of the region. This was announced on April 14 by Vasily Bolya, a member of parliament from the Pobeda opposition bloc, in the Telegram channel.
"In fact, the Action and Solidarity party is depriving Gagauzia of the opportunity to participate in the appointment of its own prosecutor. This is not just a technical adjustment, it is a conscious displacement of autonomy from all key management processes," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
According to him, such steps demonstrate the intention to eliminate the system of autonomous governance and "reduce to zero" all the powers enshrined in the legislation on the special legal status of Gagauzia, as well as in the Constitution.
Bolya stressed that the central government is rewriting the rules of the game unilaterally and leaves no room for the opinion of the residents of the Gagauz Autonomy. He clarified that as a result, agreements are being violated, and the balance on which Moldovan statehood was based is being broken.
The MP noted that the day will come "when everything will have to be answered for, both legally and politically."
On April 14, the Constitutional Court of Moldova stripped Gagauzia of its authority to appoint an autonomous prosecutor, said Domnica Manole, head of the Constitutional Court of the Republic. She stressed that the decision is final and begins to take effect from the moment it is published in the Official Monitor.
The leader of the Victory bloc, Ilan Shor, in turn, noted that this decision is an encroachment on the status of autonomy. The deputy head of the region, Viktor Petrov, called the decision of the Moldovan Council of Ministers a blow to the status of the Gagauz autonomy.
