It is expected that the agreement on a free trade area (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Indonesia will be signed by the end of 2025. This was announced on April 14 by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov in an interview with reporters on the sidelines of the Russia-Indonesia business forum in Jakarta.

"Negotiations are underway, and I hope that an agreement will be signed by the end of the year," TASS quoted him as saying.

The Deputy Prime Minister also pointed to the US initiative to significantly increase foreign trade tariffs and noted that this could create an additional impetus to accelerate the signing.

Tempo magazine reported on March 19 that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will visit Russia in June this year. The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlanggi Hartarto, clarified that the purpose of the trip would be to discuss a free trade agreement with the EAEU.
