The Italian Defense Ministry called the "coalition of the willing" to help Ukraine a theoretical force

The so-called coalition of those who wish to send a military contingent to Ukraine, which was formed by the countries of the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom, can only help in theory and currently has no grounds for real action. The corresponding statement was made on April 14 by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto.

"The coalition of the willing is a theoretical military force that can be deployed in Ukraine, but at the moment there are no conditions and prerequisites for this," he said in an interview with La Stampa newspaper.

He believes that this coalition cannot become a European pillar of NATO.

According to him, the European pillar of the alliance consists of its member countries. Crosetto clarified that Europe needs to ensure the defense of countries and engage less in political promises.

On April 12, American international lawyer and former independent expert of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Alfred de Zayas called the "coalition of the willing" a criminal organization. According to him, the coalition is aimed at continuing the Ukrainian conflict.

At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference following the summit of the Coalition of the Willing on March 27 that the participating countries had unanimously decided that the time had not yet come to lift sanctions against Russia. He stressed that such a policy would not work until peace could be established in Ukraine.
