Trump accused CBS News of distorting facts and called for the license to be revoked.

US President Donald Trump accused the American television channel CBS News of manipulating information and announced on April 14 that he was suing the 60 Minutes program so that the media could be deprived of broadcasting rights in the future.
"It is a great honor for me to sue CBS Fake News for 60 Minutes (A pun on the channel's name: fake CBS News. — Ed.) and Paramount for their fraudulent, distorted beyond recognition, reports," the head of state said on the Truth Social network.
He noted that the TV channel's journalists "did everything possible to illegally elect" Kamala Harris, a candidate for the 2024 elections from the Democratic Party, but nothing came of it. Now that he has come to power, the TV channel's reporters mention his last name "in a derogatory and slanderous context."
"They are not a "news show", but a dishonest political player, simply disguised as "news", and they must answer for what they have done and are doing. They should be stripped of their license!"— said Trump.
According to him, in one of the TV channel's releases, two main stories about the head of state were made at once, instead of one: one of the reports was devoted to Ukraine, and the second story related to Greenland.
"And in it our country was represented falsely, unreliably and fraudulently. CBS is out of control at unprecedented levels, and must pay a heavy price for it," said the American leader.
On March 6, the American company Paramount, which owns the CBS television channel, filed two petitions with the court of the northern District of Texas against Trump's lawsuit, which he initiated because of an interview with former Vice President Harris in the 60 Minutes program. One of the petitions notes that the American leader's lawsuit violates the first Amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and the press in the country.
At the end of October 2024, it was reported that Trump, as a presidential candidate, filed a lawsuit against the TV channel for $ 10 billion because of this video. The politician claimed that it was edited in such a way as to present Harris in a "good light", which misled the public. He demanded to publish the full transcript of an interview with the Democratic candidate on the 60 Minutes program, as she gave two different answers to the question about the war between Israel and the Palestinian radical movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
