Customs officers at Sheremetyevo airport stopped the smuggling of gold chains worth 8.6 million rubles. They tried to export the product to Turkey. This was announced on April 14 by the Federal Customs Service (FCS of the Russian Federation).
"Inspectors found a yellow metal chain weighing 2 kg in a foreigner's bag during customs control," the agency's Telegram channel says.
According to the detainee, who chose the green corridor, the chain belongs to him. He also said that he did not know how much it cost. According to the expert examination, the chain consists of 99.5% gold. The product is also not a finished piece of jewelry.
As a result, it was decided to institute criminal proceedings against the suspect in accordance with Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Smuggling of strategically important goods"). The article implies imprisonment for up to 5 years or a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
On March 19, it became known that five buckets of tetrahydrocannabinol disguised as plant extracts, which arrived on a flight from Istanbul, were found at Sheremetyevo Airport. A criminal case was opened against the suspect under Part 1 of Article 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Drug smuggling"). He faces three to seven years in prison with a possible fine of up to 1 million rubles.
