- The Russian Government has approved a strategy for the benefit of the older generation until 2030

The Russian government has approved an updated Strategy for Actions in the interests of Older citizens until 2030, which contains a set of standards for improving people's quality of life. This was announced on April 14 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
"President [of Russia Vladimir Putin] emphasized that the elderly should have decent conditions for active and healthy longevity. The guideline for such work will be the Strategy of Actions in the interests of Older citizens, which the government has approved," Mishustin said at the meeting.
One of the points of the strategy is a new pension increase system. Starting next year, it is planned to switch to a two-stage indexation of insurance pensions twice a year: they will increase in terms of inflation and income growth of the social fund. Another task is to improve the provision of medical care to the elderly, including in rural areas. It is also necessary to create conditions for the elderly to engage in leisure and sports.
"It is necessary to expand advanced methods of early diagnosis and prevention of diseases, and regular medical check-ups. Taking care of one's health should be the norm," the Prime Minister said.
On March 19, it was reported that a free program for correcting and maintaining cognitive functions was launched for residents of Moscow over the age of 55. The purpose of the classes will be to improve memory, attention, thinking, increase stress tolerance, and solve sleep problems. This is a joint project of the Moscow government and the Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnology of the FMBA, in which developments for employees of strategically important sectors of the economy have been adapted for older Muscovites.
In October 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a plenary session of the National Healthcare Congress, stated that life expectancy in the Russian Federation should reach 78 years, and then exceed 80 years. He noted that the life expectancy of men in the country is still lower than that of women. The President called for solving this problem, as well as reducing the differentiation in indicators for this parameter between the regions of the country, consistently.
Putin recalled that starting in 2025, Russia will begin implementing such national projects as "Long and active life" and "New technologies for saving health."
