The Prosecutor's Office of the Sakhalin Region organized an inspection into the collapse of a section of the Nevelsk— Tomari — Shakhtersk Airport highway at the culvert location in the Tomarinsky district. This was announced on April 14 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

"An inspection has been organized on the fact of the collapse of the roadway on 143 km of the Nevelsk —Tomari — Shakhtersk Airport highway," the Telegram channel says.

The case is under the control of the Sakhalin Oblast Prosecutor's Office. A pre-investigation check has also been organized, according to the regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to the local Ministry of Transport, the collapsed roadbed was 1.8 square meters. m. Traffic restrictions were imposed on the highway for all types of transport. It is specified that the barrier fence is currently being dismantled.

Maxim Zhogolev, Minister of Transport and Road Management of the Sakhalin Region, noted that it was planned to build a foundation pit for laying a culvert, followed by filling and restoring the embankment. It is noted that the time of completion of work on the temporary passage device will be clarified after the water runs out.

The collapse of part of the roadside lane in the southwest of Sakhalin was reported this morning by the regional Ministry of Transport and Road Management. It was clarified that the collapse occurred due to flooding by meltwater. The section was closed to traffic at 06:00 local time (April 13, 22:00 Moscow time).
