There is a high risk of measles import and spread in Primorye. This warning was issued by the regional Rospotrebnadzor. Local residents and guests of the region were urged to actively vaccinate.

The ministry said that measles is a highly contagious infectious disease. It can lead to serious complications, including pneumonia, laryngitis, otitis media, and diseases of the sensory organs and central nervous system. Measles is transmitted by airborne droplets. The virus spreads rapidly in the environment of a sick person, can penetrate into neighboring rooms and spread over considerable distances.

The most effective preventive measure is preventive measles vaccinations. Vaccination prevents the development of measles, even if it was carried out during the deterioration of the epidemic situation, writes IA UssurMedia.

Earlier, on March 21, it was reported that an increase in the incidence of measles was recorded in Yekaterinburg. Unvaccinated children are at risk. According to the regional Ministry of Health, cases of the disease are registered in those who have not previously been vaccinated against measles.

In October, an outbreak of measles occurred in the Perm Region, affecting members of the Roma population who had not been vaccinated against the disease. Many of the patients were wedding guests. Also present at the celebration was a resident of the Sverdlovsk region, who turned out to be the source of the disease.
