Temporary posts of the Ministry of Emergency Situations appeared on the islands of Khabarovsk

Round-the-clock posts of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have appeared on the islands of Bolshoy Ussuriysky and Kabelny in Khabarovsk. Rescuers are equipped with equipment, ATVs and trench tools. Mobile groups of employees of the search and rescue squad were transported to the islands on two flights by Mi-8 helicopter from the Khabarovsk Aviation Rescue Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to Alexey Petruk, deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region, the personnel were sent in advance due to the remoteness of the islands. Specialists will monitor the situation, carry out preventive work with the local population and summer residents, and respond promptly, including in case of fires.

Residents of the Khabarovsk Islands receive rescuers every April. The snow has melted, and dead wood remains. In some areas, the grass is more than 1 m high. Strong winds blow before the Amur River is opened, which can spread the fire, writes IA AmurMedia.

The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Khabarovsk Territory reported that over the past weekend, firefighters in the region had to travel more than 100 times to ignite dry vegetation. All the fires were quickly eliminated. In the spring, 90% of fires are caused by humans.

Earlier, on April 11, it was reported that 20 forest fires with a total area of more than 28 thousand hectares continue to operate in the Trans-Baikal Territory. Fires are active on the territory of the forest fund in Mogochinsky, Sretensky, Tungokochensky, Chita districts, Shilkinsky and Chernyshevsky districts.
