A resident of the Kemerovo region was detained for cooperating with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), sending photos and videos of military, transport and law enforcement facilities in Novokuznetsk. This was reported on April 14 in the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the region.

"The Federal Security Service of Russia for the Kemerovo Region-Kuzbass has detained a 62-year-old resident of the region who established confidential cooperation with a foreign state in order to assist in activities deliberately directed against the security of the Russian Federation," the press service said.

It is specified that the detainee maintained contact with the Ukrainian special services through the Telegram messenger in the period from December 2023 to April 2024. During his communication with representatives from Ukraine, he spoke about his readiness to commit arson or undermine any state facility in the Kemerovo region.

The press service added that the investigative department of the FSB for the region had opened a criminal case against the detainee under Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cooperation on a confidential basis with a foreign state, international or foreign organization").

At the moment, the investigation into the case is ongoing, additional circumstances are being established.

On April 10, it became known that Vadim Chaly, a cook from Volgograd, who tried to send parcels with bombs to the Russian military, was sentenced to 16 years in a high-security penal colony and fined 500 thousand rubles. The criminal case against Chaly was initiated in June 2024, after the cook, who enlisted the help of SBU agents, made a third unsuccessful attempt to set off an explosive device that they had prepared in advance and hidden in a gift box.
