The British authorities have engaged military personnel to resolve the issue of strikes by scavengers in the city of Birmingham, who oppose changes in working conditions. This was reported on April 13 by the British newspaper The Telegraph, citing sources.
"A small number of military personnel with operational planning experience are providing logistical support in order to overcome the crisis," the publication says.
It is clarified that British Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner initiated the call for military personnel to resolve this situation. According to the newspaper, she used her powers, which provide for military assistance to civilian authorities.
The publication noted that all soldiers who will be sent to Birmingham will do office work for a short time.
The Birmingham Mail newspaper reported on March 31 that in the British city of Birmingham, thousands of tons of waste accumulated on the streets of the city, which no one cleans up. It was specified that the volume of accumulated waste is 17 thousand tons.
