Mario Vargas Llosa, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, has died.

Mario Vargas Llosa, Peruvian novelist and playwright, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2010, died at the age of 90 in Lima. This was announced on April 13 by his son Alvaro Vargas Llosa.

"It is with deep sorrow that we announce that our father, Mario Vargas Llosa, passed away peacefully today in Lima surrounded by his family," his son said in a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

He clarified that there would be no public farewell ceremony for the writer. Llosa's body will be cremated.

Mario Vargas Llosa was born in 1936, and began his writing career in 1963. His debut work is the novel "The City and the Dogs". This scandalous work caused a lot of protests among the population of the country, which made it even more popular. The author's most famous books are "The Adventures of a Nasty Girl", "Aunt Julia and the Scribbler", as well as "The War of the End of the World".

In addition, Llosa became seriously involved in politics starting in 1987, and in 1990 he became the candidate for president of Peru from the Democratic Front party.
