At least 52 people have died in attacks in the DRC.

Attacks in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have killed at least 52 people. This was reported by the Associated Press (AP) on April 13.
"At least 52 people died between Friday and Saturday, including a man shot dead at Kiyoshero Hospital in Goma," the newspaper writes, citing a statement from the country's Interior Ministry.
According to AP, the resumption of violence in the DRC's largest city of Goma and its surroundings, which are controlled by the M23 rebels, has become the "biggest threat to the ongoing peace efforts" of Qatar and African countries.
On March 17, media reported that the DRC government had sent its delegation to participate in talks with the M23 rebels, despite the fact that the rebels had refused to negotiate. Prior to that, representatives of the group issued a statement in which they refused to participate in the negotiations.
In February, the rebels declared their readiness for negotiations to resolve the conflict in the east of the DRC. At the same time, they stressed that they reserve the right to protect civilians. The situation in DR Congo worsened after the Government severed diplomatic relations with Rwanda on January 26. In addition, the country was accused of supporting the rebels who launched an offensive on the city of Goma.
